Teguise recorded one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Spain in March, with a rate of 85.2%.
The hotels in the municipality reached 87% occupancy during the weekends, according to data provided by the latest Hotel Occupancy Survey from INE.
However, hotel occupancy in the Canaries decreased this March compared to last year, from 76.7% to 74.8%. Lanzarote’s recorded a smaller drop from 75.8% this March to 74.7% last March.
Tenerife recorded the highest number of overnight stays last month, with over 2.1 million. The tourist destinations with the highest number of overnight stays also include Madrid, Barcelona and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The Canaries presented the highest occupancy rate by number of beds during March with 74.9%.
39.1% of international visitors that travelled to Spain in March opted for the Canary Islands, followed by Andalusia and Catalonia which were visited by 15.3% and 15.2% of the total.
