Animal poisonings confirmed on La Graciosa

Teguise Ayuntamiento has confirmed that animals found dead on la Graciosa have been poisoned.

After autopsies were carried out by toxicologists from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it was established that cats and a dog had died after consuming the pesticide oxamyl, the fungicide boscalid and anticoagulants usually used as rat poisons.

Teguise’s animal welfare councillor, Ginés González, has announced that two environmental rangers are already looking for poisoned bait

Teguise mayor Olivia Duque has said “We cannot tolerate behaviour that threatens the lives of animals and damages the environment. At the council we condemn these acts and ask for the maximum assistance from citizens to find out what has happened.”
